If you have a good credit history there are some high street deals that offer 0% finance for a laptop or computer purchase, and this way you are likely to get the pc at a much more competitive price.

Another way to subsidise the purchase of a laptop or netbook is to buy a contract 3g connection at the time from Vodafone, 3, T mobile or o2.  By paying between £20 a month to around £45 a month over 2 years you can get deals where the laptop is free.  The credit checks for these deals are not quite as strict as other products also.
